SAF share their FIFA 21 'Team Of The Year' predictions
What is Team Of The Year? Its only the biggest event in the FUT calendar!
Team Of The Year (TOTY) is one of the most hyped promotions in the FIFA calendar each year.
Usually taking place around the first week of January we expect to see the squad released around 4th to the 11th January. TOTY sees a selection of players voted by the FIFA community, EA Sports and pro footballers to recieve insane stat boosts and be available in packs. These cards can then be used on your Ultimate Team.
Alongside special player cards we will also see lots of SBC content for special player cards and FIFA packs. TOTY considers players perfoemances and acheivements throughout the whole of 2020. Players who had stand out seasons and won major trophies will be in with a chance to win their place in the team.
How does voting work?
The TOTY nominiees are usually announced in December, the community has a few weeks to cast their votes on who they would like to see in the final 11 player team.
Players will be asked in game to vote on their favourite players in each position. 60% of the decision comes from the FIFA community, 40% comes from EA Sports and their partners within FIFA. Be sure to look out for the voting cards in Ultimate Team on the weeks prior.
What makes Team Of The Year so lit?
Each card will receive a stats boost in key game attrubutes, there are:
A player's pace represents overall speed abilities and also how fast they can accelerate on the pitch. For many years speed is one of the most important factors for players.
Sluggish defenders and attackers can be more difficult to use meaning that fast players are often sought after in Fifa Ultimate Team.
With lots of players reaching 95+ pace in TOTY, you need to make sure your defenders can keep up!
We all fancy ourselves as a striker don't we, tracking your man at right back for 90 minutes never really covered many in glory. (Sorry Right Backs!)
This is why attacking players are often the most expensive players in the world.
Using chemistry style boosts in game means that TOTY cards often receive "maxed out" shooting stats of 99.
To put in simply, they rarely miss.
Passing is a key stat in the game for players in midfireld, players that like to pass out from the back.
Shortt passing, long balls and crossing are all underpiunned by a players vision stat.
Players with high stats in these areas can utlize later focsed passes and whipped crosses with deadly accuracy.
One of the stats is often overlooked in FIFA Ultimate Team.
A player with fantastic speed and shooting may still be difficult to use without good agility, balance and reactions.
In our opinion this is one of the most imprtant areas in card stats.
Expect these stats to be JUICED for TOTY!
Defending is an important part of FIFA as it is on real world football. If you can't master the art of defending you are on your way to climbing the FIFA ranks.
Key stats that recieve boosts here are defensive awareness (this helps devenders mark attackers out of games and cut out passes), mstanding takle and interceptions.
TOTY Virgil Van Dyke was almost impossible to dribble past in FIFA 20... We are sure it will be a similar story for his potential FIFA 21 TOTY too..
A player can have all the great stats listed above, but if can't last a full game you can all to ofer go out with a whimper in the clossing parts of games.
Stamina boosts usually see this area improved greatly and really make a difference in the final 15 mins. This is often where games are won and lost.
Strength and aggression also a big part in how good a player is.
Once these stats get boosted to 90+ we wish you all the best trying to bully them of the ball.
One thing for sure is that these cards will be highly sought after in game. Add a few of these cards into your first eleven squad and you will be sure to start taking the game to your opponents.
Although we can't ever be sure until they are released, the SAF pro team and streamers have put together their very own SAF TOTY prediciton team and also a few other noticable mentions.
Check them out!
